Il mazzamurello è una figura mitologica legata al mito della Sibilla Appenninica e appartiene a quello che viene definito “piccolo popolo” nell’immaginario fiabesco delle tradizioni popolari.
Il Mazzamurello è un burlone, un dispettoso e si diletta a produrre rumori all’interno delle abitazioni. Infatti i termini “mazza” (colpo) e “murello” (mura), indicano la sua abitudine di battere contro le mura di una casa per far sentire la sua presenza.
Oltre ad essere un giocherellone, il mazzamurello è anche molto rispettoso della natura e dell’ambiente nel quale vive: i Monti Sibillini.
